Dieser Santa stammt aus dem Stamper Anonymous Set von Tim Holtz – Christmas Classic. Das Bild ist auf Fotopapier Matt mit Distress Farben, Embossingpulver, Alcohol Inks und Strukturpaste gearbeitet. Hier gibt es einen kleinen aber entscheidenden Trick, da sich Distress Oxides und Oxides Sprays normalerweise nicht zur Verarbeitung auf Fotopapier eignen.

This Santa is from Tim Holtz’s Stamper Anonymous Stamp Set – Christmas Classic. The picture is worked on photo paper matte using Distress Colours, Embossing powder, Alkohol Inks and Structure Paste. There is a tiny but important trick as Distress Oxides and Oxide Sprays are usually not suited for the surface of photo paper.

Ich habe mit Distress Farben und Photopapier herumgespielt. dazu habe ich Distress Spray Stains Wilted Violet und Picked Raspberry zusammen mit dem Distress Oxide Spray Faded Jeans nass in nass auf mein Fotopapier gesprüht. Beim Abtrocknen der Farben legen sich Anteile des Oxide Sprays milchig auf die Oberfläche , das ist ein schöner Effekt, der leider nicht permanent ist. Die milchigen Flächen lassen sich bei Berührung abreiben. Das Ergebnis ist nicht schlecht, aber der Oxideffekt ist dahin. Daher habe ich mit verschiedenen Medien experimentiert und einen Treffer gelandet. Mit Haarspray vertiefen sich die Farben etwas, aber die Oxidbereiche bleiben zum grössten Teil bestehen und die Oberfläche ist versiegelt und kann mit weiteren Farben bearbeitet werden. Das erste Bild zeigt das Ergebnis vor und das zweite Bild das Ergebnis nach dem Haarspray.

I was playing with Distress Colours and Photo Paper. I applied Distress Spray Stains Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry in combination with Distress Oxide Spray Faded Jeans wet in wet onto the Photo Paper. When drying part of the Oxide will stay at the surface as a milky spot. Its a beautiful effect which unfortunately doesn’t last as it will come off when you touch the surface. I was experimenting with several mediums and found one that works. When applying hair spray the colours deepen but the oxide areas stay and the surface is sealed for further applications of colour. The first pictures shows the surface before and the second picture shows it after applying the hairspray.

Für meinen Geschmack war der Hintergrund zu Lila lastig. Also habe ich etwas Distress Spray Stain Picket Fence aufgesprüht. Dann habe ich Santa zunächst mit Ranger Embossing Pulver White Super Fine Detail embossed und danach mit Archival Ink Black Soot in der Tonic Studio Stamp Platform gestempelt. Mit den Alkohol Inks Cranberry, Aqua, Cloudy Blue, Botanical und Mushroom sowie dem Mixative Snowcap habe ich Santa und den Hintergrund nach meinem Geschmack eingefärbt. Mit Strukturpaste habe ich zum Abschluss die Sterne durch die neue Tim Holtz Schablone aufgearbeitet.

For my taste the background had too much of lilacy tone. Therefore I applied some Distress Spray Stain Picket Fence. Then I embossed Santa with Ranger Embossing Powder White Super Fine Detail and stamped the image with Archival Ink Black Soot in the Tonic Studio Stamping Platform. With the Alkohol Inks Cranberry, Aqua, Cloudy Blue, Botanical and Mushroom as well as the Mixative Snowcap I coloured Santa and the background according to my taste. At the end I applied Structure Paste through the new Tim Holtz Stencil to add the stars.
