Der kleine Dracula hat sich vorgenommen dieses Jahr frühzeitig mit dem Brauen seiner Mixturen zu beginnen, schliesslich sollen an Halloween seine Freunde und Gäste bewirtet werden. Und er hat richtig Spass dabei. Der Kessel steht auf dem Feuer und ist mit leckeren Zutaten gefüllt. Vom letzten Jahr steht noch eine übrig gebliebene Konserve auf dem Kaminsims. Im Kaminfeuer werden die Kürbisse gegart. Die Gespenster sind durch die eifrige Aktivität aufgeschreckt und die Spinne freut sich über eine extra Mahlzeit.

The little tyke Dracula has promised himself to start cooking his special brews early this year as he expects his friends and guests for dinner on Halloween. He is having so much fun. The cauldron sits on the fire and is filled with wonderful ingredients to the brim. On the mantle piece of the fireplace is a preserve leftover from last year. The pumpkins will be roasted in the fire. The ghosts are disturbed by the busy commotion and the spider is pleased to have extra dinner.

Das Projekt ist komplett mit den fantastischen Produkten von Tim Holtz gearbeitet. Verwendet habe ich die Stanzen von Sizzix, die Farben, Pasten und Kleber von Ranger Ink und die Dekorationen und Papiere von Idea-ology. Der Rahmen hat seit 8 Jahren in meinem Schrank auf seinen Moment gewartet.

For the project I used exclusively Tim Holtz wonderful products. I used dies from Sizzix, colours, pastes and glues from Ranger Ink and decorations and papers from Idea-ology. The frame was sitting in my wardrobe for 8 years waiting for its moment.

Dracula

Der kleine Dracula ist aus verschiedenen Stanzsets zusammengebaut. Der Kopf stammt aus dem Set Hip Haunts, die Flügel sind Teile der Fledermäuse vom Bat Crazy Set. Der Körper ist von der kleinen Weihnachtselfe aus dem Santa’s Helper Set und die Schuhe gehören eigentlich der Hexe aus dem Frightful Things Set. Im letzten Bild kann man noch die Little Domes sehen, die ich gefüllt habe. Die grüne Masse ist eine Mischung aus Collage Medium und Distress Spray Stain.

Dracula, the little tyke, was build from several die sets. The head is from Hip Haunts, the wings are parts from the Bat Crazy set. The body is a loan from the little elf from the Santa’s Helper set and the shoes originally belong to the witch of the Frightful Things Set. In the last picture you can also see the Little Domes which I have filled. The green substance is a mix of Distress Collage Medium and Distress Spray Stain.

Der Kessel – The Cauldron

Den Kessel, eine Sizzix Stanze, habe ich in mehreren Schichten gearbeitet. Zunächst mit Grit Paste eingestrichen, blau gefärbt, dann mit der 3D Texture Fades Crackle geprägt, mit Collage Medium Matte versehen und mit Archival Ink die Erhöhungen braun eingefärbt. Für den gefüllten Dome habe ich das Loch geschnitten und den Dome mit Grit Paste ummantelt. Dann habe ich mit Distress Crayons und Distress Spray Stains alles nachgefärbt und den Kessel oben gefüllt. Damit der Kessel gut steht, habe ich von Sizzix die Stanze Small Easel genommen und diese als Stütze angebracht.

The Cauldron, a Sizzix Die, has several layers. After cutting the shape out it was covered with Grit Paste, stained blue and then embossed with the 3D Texture Fades Crackle. Then I applied Collage Medium Matte and stained the raised parts with Archival Ink. I cut the hole for the filled Dome and surrounded it with Grit Paste. Then I used Distress Crayons and Distress Spray Stains to colour all the edges and fixed all the goodies in the cauldron. In order to give it stability I used the Sizzix Small Easel and fixed it to the back.

Treppe & Kamin – Stairs & Fireplace

Um eine gute Aufteilung zu erzielen, habe ich eine Treppe konstruiert, so dass der Kamin räumlich vom Kessel getrennt ist. Dafür habe ich Etcetera Trims verklebt, mit Grit Paste, Crackle Medium, Distress Spray Stains, Alcohol Inks und Distress Crayons behandelt. Die Gitter von Idea-ology habe ich vorsichtig gebogen und mit Grit Paste, Distress Crayons und Spray Stains eingefärbt. Der Kamin sollte richtig dreidimensional werden, darum habe ich viele Schichten aufeinander verklebt. Für die Vorderseite habe ich ein Papier vom Abondoned Paper Stash mit 3D Texture Fades Lumber geprägt. Die Flammen sind abgeschnittene und eingefärbte Teile von den Geistern aus dem Frightful Set. Die restlichen Teile sind mit Distress Crayons eingefärbt. Die Rückseite vom Kamin wurde mit Crackle Paint und dann mit Spray Stain behandelt.

To achieve a good spacial balance I constructed stairs in order to raise the fireplace and separate it from the cauldron. For the stairs I glued Etcetera Trims together and treated the surface with Grit Paste, Crackle Medium, Distress Spray Stains, Alcohol Inks and Distress Crayons. The Fences are from Idea-ology, after bending them carefully I covered them with Grit Paste, Distress Crayons and Spray Stains. To achieve a 3D look for the fireplace I glued many layers on top of each other. For the front I embossed paper from the Abandoned Paper Stash with the 3D Texture Fades Lumber. The flames are the bottom parts of the ghosts from the Frightful Set. The remaining bits were coloured with Distress Crayons. The backside of the fireplace was covered with Crackle Paint and sprayed with Spray Stain.

Der Rahmen – The Frame

Der noch neue Rahmen sollte ein antikes Aussehen bekommen. Dafür habe ich zunächst Halloween Collage Paper an einigen Stellen verklebt, dann den gesamten Rahmen mit Crackle Paint eingestrichen und in Stufen alles mit Spray Stains und Crayons eingefärbt. Innen habe ich Papiere vom Abandoned Paper Stash eingeklebt und eine Rückwand fixiert. Die Ecken sind mit Grit Paste versehen, für die Mauer habe ich durch einen Tim Holtz Stencil Paste aufgetragen und diese dann farblich angepasst.

To achieve an antique look for the frame I fixed Halloween Collage Paper in some places and covered the entire frame with Crackle Paste and coloured it step by step with Spray Stains and Crayons. Inside I fixed papers from the Abandoned Paper Stash as well as a back wall. The edges were covered with Grit Paste. For the wall I applied some Paste through a Tim Holtz Stencil and coloured it accordingly.

Innenausbau – The Interior

Innen wollte ich eine besondere Stimmung erzielen. Der Kessel steht schon seit Jahren auf dem Feuer, die ständige Hitze hat die Tapete eingefärbt, Ruß und ölige Bestandteile aus dem Kessel haben sich in den Ecken abgelagert. Nach und nach habe ich die Elemente ergänzt

Inside I wanted to create a special atmosphere. The cauldron has been sitting on the fire for years, the constant heat has stained the wall papers, ashes and oily bits from the cauldrons brews stick to all the corners of the room. Step by step I added all the elements.
